This year BTOP participated in the Volunteering for International Professionals (VIP) Fellowship Programme (http://www.vip.org.my). Together with 9 other non-profit organisations we were shortlisted out of 182 applications from throughout South East Asia. Incitement (theincitement.com), who is the official implementing partner for the VIP 2017 Fellowship Programme and in charge of screening and selection of the Host Organisations, selected 20 Malaysians and 30 International professional volunteers to be a part of this years candidates. The selection was largely based on the amount of long-term sustainable social impact the project can create,.
The VIP Programme is an initiative by the Malaysian Ministry of Finance (http://www.treasury.gov.my) and the National Strategy Unit (NSU), and is a part of National Blue Ocean Strategy (hyperlink: http://www.nbos.gov.my) (NBOS) initiative as announced by Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, at the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) Summit in December 2013.
During the programme we received 5 professional volunteers who worked for a period for 4 months on our project, with the aim of developing youth in sports.
We would like to thank the Malaysian government and Incitement for this opportunity and we are looking forward to more collaborations to help address the issues of youth development in the community.
